Casey Lowell, An Expressive Country Voice Turning Almost-Love Into Honest Light
Casey Lowell is a bright and emotionally expressive country/Americana artist with a confident, open-hearted storytelling style. His music brings warmth and clarity to complicated feelings, turning love, change, and personal growth into songs that feel sincere and easy to connect with.
In “We Were Almost Forever,” Casey tells the story of two young dreamers who were close enough to believe they might last, but honest enough to let each other become who they were meant to be. With vivid images of highway rooms, Nashville dreams, California waves, faded photographs, and songs on the radio, the track captures the beauty of a love that did not fail — it simply could not carry both lives forward.

We Were Almost Forever

We Were Almost Forever
We shared one room above the highway
With all our dreams beneath the bed
You drew the coast across a napkin
I circled Nashville there in red
We thought love would hold us steady
No matter where the road might turn
But you were made to chase the ocean
And I had songs I had to learn
We were almost forever
Close enough to believe
Two young hearts in the same old pickup
With different roads beneath our feet
You were bound for California
I had words I could not ignore
We did not fail, we just became
What we were reaching for
Your jacket stayed until September
Your name still marked the mailbox door
I kept one faded photograph
But never waited there anymore
Sometimes I hear you found your ocean
Sometimes you hear me on the radio
I hope the life you dreamed is waiting
Everywhere you choose to go
We were almost forever
Close enough to believe
You found the waves, I found my songs
And both of us found something more
We did not lose the love we carried
It just could not carry us anymore
Maybe forever is not always staying
Maybe love can let us grow
We were almost forever
And for a while, that was enough
We Didn’t Fail, We Just Became Who We Were Reaching For
“We Were Almost Forever” is a song I wrote about a love that was real, even though it didn’t last the way we once imagined.
I think some relationships don’t end because people stop caring.Sometimes they end because both people are growing toward different places, different dreams, different versions of themselves. That kind of goodbye can hurt, but it can also be full of respect.
I wanted this song to feel honest, warm, and a little bittersweet. It’s about looking back at someone and being able to say, “We mattered. We tried. And for a while, what we had was enough.”
There’s no anger in this one.Just gratitude, a little ache, and the hope that both people found the life they were chasing.
I hope “We Were Almost Forever” reaches anyone who has ever had to let go of someone they still wish well.Sometimes forever is not always staying. Sometimes love is letting each other grow.
